ORLANDO Festival is ready to come back with a new edition and a new Artistic Direction!

In the 2023 occured the 10th edition of Festival ORLANDO. During this 10 year journey, the context has deeply changed.  Festival ORLANDO, which embrace transformation as essential principle, has to change as well. Born as an answer to the need for more representation and legitimation of all the identities and always active in expanding the horizon of imagination and possibilities, the Festival has been a revolution in and for Bergamo and it was able gather a community  able to face social and cultural challenges, thanks to the care of the Artistic Direction of Mauro Danesi.

Choosing, as Festival’s name, ORLANDO from Virginia Woolf’s novel, meant to draw a path made of “continuous changes, which may never stop”. ORLANDO made us responsible toward the transformation that we want to see in the society and in the Festival itself.

That’ s the reason why the Artistic Direction goes from Mauro Danesi to Elisabetta Consonni, well known to the audience since 2021 when she produced, together with ORLANDO, Ti voglio un bene pubblico a city game which invites to think about how divisions prevent the creation of relationships and cause exclusion. The sharing of values and the affection between the artist and the Festival delivered to Elisabetta Consonni the responsability to sign the next edition’s program, happening in Bergamo from 3rd to 12th May 2024.

We are therefore changing with the promise to always improve in being a safe space for those who are brave enough to invent their own identity and for those who are marginalized. We will do everything we can to get where we couldn’t get yet, to make sure that everyone can feel seen, welcomed, awaited, wanted
We will preserve our original mission to widen the horizon of possibilities, keeping on multiplying perspectives, directions and the following intersections
We will keep on looking for a high quality cultural offer as a way to understand issues and needs of the present. We will try to find words to explain ourselves, and if we won’t find them we will create new ones to make ourselves understandable.
We will keep on caring about all the relationships with groups, institutions and people that have been building our ten years  history.

As we did during the past ten years we will come back same same but changed.  With the resolute step of the ones who welcomes the vertigo of keeping on walking fast on high heels, with fun and foolish determination. We will be back, and in the transformation, we will continue to be ORLANDO!
